The BUTTER routine for you

Why is making a routine like butter important? It's BETTER and it is smooth which every routine in order to be successful is necessary. Getting in the routine is almost half the battle and being discipline enough to make that routine a habit is where it counts. So many days have gone by where I wish I had accomplished X,Y,& Z but "just didn't have time" when realistically if I wasn't on TikTok after an hour of just saying "5 more minutes" or slept that extra twenty minutes because I deserve it, I probably could feel a lot more accomplished, my brain would be less cluttered, and well quite frankly the stuff would just get done. A routine is so much more than being consistent a lot more goes into it but the benefits of actually getting yourself in that consistency might just surprise you. Now how do we get there and actually make a routine and not enter the all too familiar cycle of "I'll just start tomorrow". Today is all about learning the essential steps it takes to make this routine rock solid. Let's get into it.....

Step 1: Figure out what YOU want prioritized or key things that are essential in creating the routine that is right for you.

Whether it's wanting to spend more time for yourself and making sure you have time for meditation, journaling, or a face mask or investing more time into that business you have been eager to since you were 16 this is your why. These are the things you need to think about when it does get hard and you feel like caving in to toxic habits. So the first step really is figuring out what is important enough to you to make the behavior change to cut out the dissonance whirling around in your brain.

Step 2: Baby steps

It's a marathon not a sprint if you try to jump into it head first the routine is less likely to stick or become a habit. This is where the discipline is vital and every little step matters. If your end goal is to go to the gym more start by going twice a week then three times a week and so on whatever works for you to accomplish YOUR goal.

Step 3: Make a Plan

Start with one day at a time then one week at a time and slowly build up your accomplishments one day at a time and begin to check more and more things off your checklist. Go day by day and plan out what you want to accomplish and make a time slot for each thing so you have a set time to accomplish that goal. It is almost like making an appointment with yourself to take the time in your day for you. Trying to complete these goals at the same time everyday is another little hack that allows it to become more of a habit.

Step 4: Proper Preparation

If your goal is to eat healthier or diet properly, then grocery shopping for healthy foods and meal prep might be something necessary for a successful routine. If you want to be more organized or cleaner buy some storage bins and cleaning supplies. If you want to actually follow through with your goals it important to have the right tools so you can't let the devil on your shoulder full of excuses will win and the blockroads happen more and more often leading straight to a dead end.

Step 5: Fun, Fun, Fun

Making it fun is so important since routine building can't always be easy it is important to make it exciting to you in a way that is going to motivate you to discipline yourself to get to the finish line of habiting these goals. Join a book club, someone to try the same pilates class, follow people trying to accomplish similar goals on a social media platform to keep you encouraged. Maybe even make a log and if you accomplish your goals for x amount of days you can reward yourself in whatever way is arousing to you.
